He leverages deep industry relationships along with hard data and proven track records, rather than relying on conventional gatekeeping metrics like streaming numbers and social media followers.

The core of the model is what James calls a “niche as mass” strategy: identifying artists with a strong, specific, and provable fan base, even without traditional industry credentials, and using their real ticket-buying history and proven track record as leverage to open doors at venues that would otherwise be inaccessible. Venues frequently defer to James's read of a show's potential over their own internal data, a byproduct of his standing as a former top talent buyer.
